Conferences

Paper Plane can work with you to make your conferences engaging and participative. It doesn’t have to be ‘death by PowerPoint’!

We have years of experience of designing facilitated, participatory conferences that get groups engaged. There is a tendency to make large meetings and conferences all about one way information; making the audience very passive in the process. Even the most inspirational speakers can only hold people’s attention for 45 minutes, so a whole day of presentations has little impact.

Our conferences get people involved in meaningful discussions about their work. This makes the sessions engaging and ensures best use of the valuable brain power in the room.

Working with Paper Plane means having a successful conference. Successful conferences are characterised by:

Involvement

Participants are involved from the design stage through to the day of the conference itself. This means we pitch the design at the right level: we enable leaders to get their points across in a way that is meaningful to the group.  We address the issues that the group want to talk about without people hi-jacking the conference.  We don’t patronise people by sharing information they already know; our visual approach to facilitation works across all levels.

Decision Making

Often meetings of large groups of people are just talking shops and no real decisions get made. We have creative processes for enabling large groups of people to make effective decisions.

Long Term Impact

By involving conference participants in engaging discussions, our conferences have a much longer term impact than traditional conferences which largely involve information being presented to the audience. Commitment and momentum is generated that supports actions and decisions getting carried out after the event.
